This quality is poorly understood today being substituted by psychological empathy rather than the correct term: sympathy (one who feels and/or understands the plight of another experientially). Christ took on Flesh to experientially grasp mercy to show us, as sinners, Father's mercy. Without mercy one cannot receive the Gospel and one will not take the Gospel to others making you unmerciful or mercilessness.
