After Oliver Cromwell passed away, the title of Lord and Protector of England was handed down to his son, Richard. Buckling under the pressure of being Lord and Protector of England, Richard gave up his leadership role after one year of service and pursued his passion of the outdoors. As a result of this, England was in need of a leader. General Monk of Cromwell's army invited Charles II to take the throne of England. Charles accepted the invitation and shortly after began plotting against the Puritians. Restoring the Anglican Chruch, creating a new Parliament, inforcing new acts, Charles began instigating the reformers of Scotland, England, and Ireland. In between 2,000 and 3,000 pastors lost their jobs and were dismissed from the pulpit.
