You already know this, but I always need to be encouraged by it; God wants us to be strong in His power. We are speaking about limitless power. We are speaking about the glorious King, in whose presence unfathomably powerful angels cover their eyes and shout, "Holy! Holy! Holy is the Lord Almighty!" and the doorposts shake at the sound of their voices.
Its so easy to say we should be empowered in this way, but see how God does this. He actively produces power in us because He lives in us and functions in us! God acts in our lives through His Spirit! You are not alone and God is not depending on your ability! In other words, your ability to do something is not limited by your lack of ability to do something. God deliberately declares His glory by using people who obviously can't perform, in order to make it obvious that what has been done has been done through God.
This is of course not the kind of power where you have lightning bolts emitting from your fingertips. It is power in your inner being--in your attitudes, desires, hope, motivation. A weak old grandmother can be weak as she sits in a wheelchair, facing death, yet simultaneously, in her can be immense power! She honours God in her inner being even while her frail body wastes away. True power focuses on Christ. If Christ is not everything to you, come back!
