The Philippian jailor experienced a momentous earthquake, and it was this that awakened him out of his spiritual sleep and caused him to seek salvation.
As a great earthquake shook the prison, the cell doors were opened and prisoner's chains loosed. Fearing he would be executed for allowing the captives to escape, the jailor almost committed suicide, but Paul called out assuring him that everybody was still there.
Filled with a fresh dread of the power of God, the jailor falls down asking 'what must I do to be saved?'
Paul and Silas explain the message of the gospel, and we see the jailor's life flooded with peace and assurance, bearing the fruits of belief.
Here is a man whose life is turned upside down in a moment.
