In Exodus 16 we see that the Israelite's soon forgot that God was their provider and their protector. They looked back to Egypt when they should have been looking forward to Canaan. How did God respond to the undeserving Nation? With Grace and not only Grace but with the Promise of His provision.The Survival of the Nation depended on God and the survival of any nation depends on God. It is God that enables us to exist. It is God that enables us to grow our food. It is God that supplies the sun and rain. In Exodus 16 we see that God provided Quail in the Evening and Manna in the Morning. God not only gave Israel His provisions He also gave them His instructions. Israel had to live by the Promises of God and we too must live by the Promises of God. The Israelites would have had to rise up in the morning with the intention of gathering their Heavenly Bread. There was no place for a lazy person. If you wanted to eat you were expected to get up and get out of your tent and work to gather just enough Manna to feed you for that day. The Israelite's had to trust God that He would provide for them enough for daily sustenance. God was teaching His people here to trust Him every day. Everyday some 2 million people had to depend on God for their daily needs. We need to learn from the Israelites in the Wilderness. When you get up each morning would you say Lord I'm trusting you to meet my needs today. Then trust Him the next day and if you have forty years left then determine that every day to trust the Lord to meet your needs. Not only does He provide for us our physical food but the Lord will give us spiritual food id we avail ourselves of this.
