If we are going to grow spiritually to be giant Christians we must exercise. In this verse the word 'exercised' means trained, both bodily and mentally exerted especially for the sake of improvement of health. In our case we are seeking the improvement of our spiritual health. And if that is to improve than we must start spiritually exercising. Godliness doesn't just happen we must train ourselves. Learning and growing don't just happen you must train, practice, and exercise. Too many Christians are lazy believers. They've been feeding on milk for far too many years so they are not ready for meat. Why? Because they have not been exercising the things which they have already received. As the old saying goes 'use it or lose it!' And those who aren't training need to go back to the basics. But as we exercise we grow, things start to come back, some quicker than others but that's okay. What all this does is make the strong meat to become palatable for us.
