SERMON INFO
When you write your own resumé you want people who read it to think the best of you. You want your good points emphasized and your bad points left hidden.

Now, there is nothing inherently wrong with that when you are applying for a job—you want your potential employer to see how your skills, experience & personality can fit with what is needed for that position. The problem comes when you start thinking about yourself in terms of your well-crafted resumé; when you start seeing yourself not as you really are but only as you want others to see you.

What if God were to write your resumé? What would He include in it? That's a rather daunting thought, isn't it? Because we know that God cannot lie—He is the God of truth—and He is omniscient; that is, He knows everything. So, what would He say about you if He were to write your resumé?

We don't have to speculate on the answer to that question because in the text that we come to today in our study of Romans we discover what is, in effect, a resumé that God actually has written for each one of us. The passage that we are studying today is Romans 3:9-20. It begins on page 940 in the Bible provided for you. I invite you to get those verses before you so that as I read them and talk about them you can follow along and see for yourself what God has to say to us this morning. It is important that we not superficially skate over these verses because, as I have said, they really are God's assessment of the natural condition of every human being.

When you write your resumé you intend for it to make a positive impression on others. When God writes your resumé He intends for it to make a sobering impression on you.
