The missing jewel of God's holy and glorious gospel is the doctrine of repentance. One of the reasons some preachers do not like to preach repentance, is the same reason lost people do not like to hear repentance preached because, repentance begets guilt! When we consider the true aspect of Biblical repentance there are a few things that occur in the heart when true repentance is appropriated: (1) There is conviction: The sinner is convicted of his sins. He starts seeing himself sinful and to feel guilty; he is disturbed as never before and see that he has sinned against God. (2) There is convincing: He is convince that he is a sinner, not that he just did a few bad things, but is being convince that he is a sinner through and through. He starts to see his wickedness and to see the danger of hell fire. He is convinced of this. (3) There is contrition: Not only is he convicted and convince but he starts to see that he has sinned against a holy and righteous God. He sees that he has sinned against God. His heart is broken in offending a trice holy God. Sin becomes a reality and thus, he starts to loathe and hate his sin. (4) There is confession: Like David, the sinner starts to cry, Ps.51: 3 & 4, “For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. (4) Against thee, thee only, have I sinned...†(5) There is conversion: True Biblical repentance leads to conversion. There are two sides to repentance: (1). Turning from sin. (2). Turning to God. Acts 20:21, Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance is not only a turning away from sin,but it is also a turning toGod
