After the death of Lazarus, our Lord goes to Bethany to comfort Mary and Martha, the sisters of Lazarus. Martha runs out to meet Him outside the village. Jesus consoles her grief with the declaration that He is the resurrection and the life. He asks Martha if she believes this. Martha makes the great confession of faith that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah), the Son of God (God in the flesh), and the One prophesied in the Old Testament scriptures.
