Last Sunday, our church began a 2-part examination of the unshakeable joy of John the Baptist. The enduring impact left by John is captured in his legacy statement, "He must increase; but I must decrease" (Jn.3:30). John's internal sense of joy, satisfaction, happiness, and contentment, did not stem from an endless drive to enhance his own importance, inflate his self-esteem or boost his own ego, as is so often endorsed by modern consumer-driven psychologists. John's joy was anchored to his own humble exaltation of Jesus as the preeminent purpose of his own life. Join us this Sunday as we continue where we left off in Part 1 of this life-changing lesson from the Gospel of John.
