Just to be clear, this message is not arguing for a Roman Catholic like single priesthood pastor. Rather, I am presenting an alternative viewpoint, to Pastor Caldwell's. He proclaims "one wife" is the norm, while allowing room for single pastors. My interpretation of "one wife" is that it is a LIMITATION! In Paul's day polygamy was part of the culture, was a new believer with more than one wife to get rid of some? One wife is a limitation because more than one would be a distraction to the high calling of ministry. No wife, as Paul states in 1 Corinthians 7:32-33, has its advantages, especially for churches who see God's Kingdom, love for Christ, seeking things above, as priorities, even over the important ministry of family counselling.
