"Nahum's name means 'comfort' and though his message was vengeful for God's enemies, it was comfort for God's people. He says to them Keep your feasts; fulfill you vows – in other words keep living like you have a future, because you're coming out of this. Assyria will never bother you again. And friends that's the abiding hope this grim prophecy holds for us today because one day, the Lord Jesus Christ is coming to make war on all His enemies and He's going to unleash vengeance the likes of which the world has never seen. Revelation 19:15 says – From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. So the wicked can scoff and plot against the Lord and His people now, but one day they will meet the same end as Nineveh. We just need to keep living like we have a future because in Christ, we do."
