This continues the theme of "Making every effort to preserve unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." The Trinitarian basis for this has been laid out. Now the common grace of which all Christians are recipients comes into view. This grace, measured out by Christ, is the entire basis of Christian salvation, life, and practice. He gave gifts to men. These gifts are gifts from Christ, given by grace, that exist to exalt the gift giver. There is no one who, because of the exercise of a gift, who should be exalted over another. For that one is merely operating in that which was an unmerited gift from Christ the savior of all who are His. |
