This sermon gives the foundational understanding of work and labor (Gen 1-2) as part of God's design for His created image-bearer to reflect and glorify Him and as part of His eternal moral law. Work was not a result of the Fall but instituted as good and glorious before it. But sin then brings about great conflict in man's desire for and exercise of work (Gen 3). Yet in Christ, work can be redeemed again for God's glory.
This 'big picture' of work must be understood in order to recover the biblical work ethic so greatly missing in our society--and even in the church--before looking at the details of work given in Titus 2 (in the next sermon).
