Acts 10:24-48 – Pentecost for the Gentiles (3) – Sermon Outline
Intro: Cornelius' faithfulness to God is demonstrated by the 3 witnesses of those from his household. As a result, the Lord blesses Him by sending Peter to preach to his household and pour out the Holy Spirit on them. Need: Peter learns the Lord has made the nations clean through Christ's reign from heaven over all things, so that Christians can have contact with unbelievers of any nation, for the purpose of witnessing to them, with the aim of having Spiritual union and fellowship in Christ. For Christ gives the Spirit equally to all His elect people. Theme: Peter preaches Christ to believing Gentiles, who receive the Holy Spirit just as the Jews.
1. Cornelius, his household, family and friends gather together before God to hear God's Word. (24-33) 2. Peter declares that God shows no partiality toward any Christian of any particular nation. (34-43) 3. The Holy Spirit falls upon the Gentiles just as He came upon the Jews at Pentecost, so Cornelius and his house are baptized. (44-48)
