In the Flinders ES Mission Week (August 13-16) we will be asking people the question, 'Why did Jesus have to die?' In answering the question, we may give a simple answer that is enough to lead a person to repentance and faith, yet at the same time we will never reach the end of the depths of the wonderful mystery of the Father's will in giving His own Son for us. Jesus prayed to the Father that we would "...be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world." (John 17:24). This glory of the Son is seen nowhere more clearly than at the cross, and so it is imperative that we too find ourselves with and in him at this place - the culmination of His obedient life. This Sunday we will explore four foundational reasons why Jesus laid down His life at that cross.
