Does God have a plan for the future or is our future simply determined by the choice of men or by chance? And if so, how do we understand the unfolding of His plan? What is the overall theme of human history? What is God seeking to accomplish or demonstrate to the world? This sermon explores the distinctive of a dispensational understanding of Scripture. 'Dispensation' means 'to manage, regulate, to administer, to plan.' Twice in Ephesians Paul speaks of different 'dispensations'-- one future, one present to describe how God governs His world and distinguishes them from previous ages. Theologically, a 'dispensation' is a 'distinguishable economy in the outworking of God's purpose.' It is an 'economy' in that it focuses on how God governs His world; 'distinguishable' in that it is different from other eras; and focuses on the 'outworking of God's purpose' which is the manifestation of His glory! But God not only has a plan for the future of the human race, but individually for us! Jesus Christ is Lord; We are His steward. He's given us work to do. One day we will stand before Him to be judged on how we did as His stewards. And may we, on that day, hear these words, 'Well done, good and faithful servant."
