Sermon Outline for Sunday August 4, 2013 Fellowship Baptist Church Senior Pastor R. Rubino 2929 West 20th Street (718)-372-5022
“Proud to be God’s Moron!” Those Crazy Corinthians! Part 4 1) By Grace through faith we are saved by believing the Historical story of the Cross. Without Sovereign Grace fallen Mankind is too wise in his own eyes to be saved. (1 Corinthians 1:18,19; John 18:28-40; Story of Pilate and Josephus) 2) The simple proclamation/ kérugma of the Gospel transformed this world for Jesus Christ. New territory for King Jesus continues to be conquered. The Roman Empire which once persecuted the faith had to kiss the feet of the King of the Jews, and superficially become “Christian” to survive. (1 Corinthians 1:20,21) 3) The faithful preaching of the Gospel placed Western Civilization in the driver’s seat of the world. This same group of people are building an ideological coffin to place the God of the Bible in. They do not realize they are the ones entering the coffin. (Romans 1:16-28)
"Moron" was coined in 1910 by psychologist Henry H. Goddard[3] from the Ancient Greek word μωρός (moros), which meant "dull"[4] (as opposed to oxy, which meant "sharp" (see also:oxymoron)), and used to describe a person with a mental age in adulthood of between 8 and 12 on the Binet scale.[5] It was once applied to people with an IQ of 51–70, being superior in one degree to "imbecile" (IQ of 26–50) and superior in two degrees to "idiot" (IQ of 0–25). The word moron, along with others including, "idiotic", "imbecilic", "stupid", and "feeble-minded", was formerly considered a valid descriptor in the psychological community.
