Theme: Opposition will not stop the gradual and continual growth of the Kingdom of God. In vv. 18 and 20 Jesus asks, "What is the Kingdom of God like?". He has just released the woman with a disabling spirit from Satan's power, and He wants to show Who truly has authority. He is giving encouragement to the disciples about the truth of the Kingdom of God. We need to recognize the greatness of God's Kingdom and walk worthy of our King. In v. 19, Jesus compares the kingdom of God to a grain of mustard seed. It has a small beginning and an incredible ending. We can find security in the Kingdom. In v. 21, Jesus describes the Kingdom of God as leaven. It will permeate throughout all the world and have incredible transforming power. We should be encouraged by this truth to participate in the furtherance of God's Kingdom. God is moving and working today; let us seek to be a part of His great work!
