You may wish it was clear; the categories into which people should be divided. For example, wouldn't it be nice if every person who said they were a Christian, was actually a Christian? But this is not the way it is. The frightening thing is that there are so many people who call Jesus Lord, yet they live ungodly lives. Even more frightening is the fact hat this could be true of me or you. Do you call Jesus Lord, while giving yourself continual concessions to personal sin? On what basis do you maintain that you are a Christian? In Matthew 7, Jesus even shows that a person can actually perform miracles, even in the name of Christ, and yet still be damned forever! The only confirmation of true spiritual life is the constant sanctifying work of the Spirit of God in you life. Ask God to help you evaluate your spiritual state as a matter of urgency. If you find within yourself a lack of longing to obey Jesus, you may very well not be saved. Do you have a faith that is functional? A faith that is so convinced of the reality of Christ's life, resurrection, ascension, and return for you, that you are compelled to live a holy life? Do you have a functional faith?
