Nineveh, like many in the world, often look at prosperity as having a lot of wealth and a lot of stuff that has been purchased by that wealth. Sometimes, man's priorities become stewarding stuff, people, and maybe God if he can be fit in. Jesus said in Mark 8:36-37, "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" You can have a whole lot of stuff and even a lot of relationships, but you still may not be prosperous. This is why we need revival. In Jeremiah, the LORD speaks about true prosperity saying in Jeremiah 9:23-24, "Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD." The city of Nineveh had a lot of the world's wealth, advancements, and power, but they fell way short on understanding and knowing God. This morning, we are going to walk with Jonah into the capital city of the Assyrian Empire called Nineveh. Jonah preaches God's message. It begins to spread. Some things have to die in order for true growth and prosperity. The title of today's message will be, "The Great Revival: The Prosperity of Nineveh " We will consider the 1) The Ninevites believed God 2) The Ninevites Repented Toward God 3) The Ninevites waited on God.
