Transcript of the segment on on Jesusâ Answers and Non-Answers: The twelve-year old Jesus said, âWhy were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Fatherâs house.â They did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. Whatâs fascinating to note is that in our text this morning Jesus does answer the question about him. Youâll find that this is not always the case, in terms of questions about Jesus. And questions posed to him are not always answered. In John 19, we find Jesus being brought in front of Pilate. Heâs being brought in front of him to be tried shortly before his crucifixion. And the Jews say to Pilate, the following: We have a law and according to that law, he ought to die, because he has made himself the Son of God. What a fascinating statement. âWhen Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid. He entered his headquarters again and said to Jesus: Where are you from? But Jesus gave him no answer.â You see, friends, if Jesus had answered that question, he would have revealed his true origin. And in doing so, he would have revealed his true identity, who he is. For Christ was not simply a great teacher. Or even one who was born of a virgin, as profound and significant as that is. Christ is the God-Man.
