On Friday, 6 July 2007, Reaman Uttereyuk (age 8) was playing with his brother, Reichel Uttereyuk (age 10), around the connex boxes by the Kun River. Reaman slipped on a rock and fell into the water. His older brother Reichel jumped in to save him. Neither boy knew how to swim.
Reikel was able to get his brother out of the water but he didn't have enough strength to fight against the current. Reikel went under.
While CPR was performed unsuccessfully on Reaman Friday afternoon, village search & resuce began operations to look for Reichel. Reichel's body was finally found about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
This funeral was the hardest, yet most joyful service Jon has ever officiated. The lives and deaths of these boy are a small reflection of the tradgedy and triumph of the greatest tradgedy and triumph demonstrated in the universe: the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ.
According to Xavier Simon, this may have been the largest funeral in Scammon Bay in the past 30 years.
Although the message was short, Jon preached the Cross of Christ and presented the only hope a sinful, dying world has: Jesus Christ.

2 Boys Died-their Father Blesses God! Hearing the 2 boys' father get up and still that church with his rebuke .... and then give God praise and glory for the time He gave him the life of his 2 sons!! *(16-17 minutes into the recording)* Praise God. God will bless him. The 2 boys were only 10 and 8 years old and both drowned while playing....but their stay on this earth was with a God fearing Dad.
The message of Jesus was given out to more people in that small village during the funeral, which cost the lives of 2 boys and the heart of their God loving family, than would have been possible if they had not died. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away.....the Lord Loves Us Greatly!
Thanks for sharing Jon.
Your friend and Brother in Christ
