3/27/2022 Scripture: Psalm 133, Proverbs 6:12ff Text: Prov. 6:19b Sermon: SEVEN SINS GOD HATES THE MOST 7 SOWING DISCORD AMONG BRETHREN Points: I. Understanding This Sin II. Avoiding This Sin III. The Virtue Reflected by this Sin
SEVEN SINS GOD HATES ABOVE ALL OTHERS: 7. "SOWING DISCORD AMONG BRETHREN" Psalm 133: 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. 3 It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.." This morning we are going to continue our study of Proverbs 6. We will consider a phrase from verse 19b, that God hates "SOWING DISCORD AMONG BRETHREN"." These verses describe the heart and character I'd the wicked. We see that Wisdom is not surprised by human nature and our sinful tendencies. Wisdom doesn't leave us in our sin, but leads and directs us in the way we should go… what we need to do and not do if we would live a life that gives glory to God. Why is this sin reserved for the Seventh… prospectively the sin God hates the worst? I think it's because His people were bought at great price and when they are too concerned about petty disagreements instead of the wonder of God's Grace, they're missing the point. We are to dwell together with the Lord and His People in peaceful unity.
