In these verses we are challenged to both understand and bow to God's sovereignty as He works out all the details that transpire in our lives and everywhere else. When believers are thrown into turmoil by the things that are happening to them or others, it is because they are denying the reality of God's sovereign ordering of all the details of life and denying that all of these are moving the Kingdom toward the final goal . Paul shows how important it is to quickly embrace God's sovereign workings, for nothing else can account for what is happening. When our eyes are focused upon the Kingdom and not ourselves, we will be able to see its advancement and thus bring our thinking and emotions into subjection to God's inscrutable will. All that the Lord does is good and the wise live by this truth.
