Because he is just learning worldly wisdom. He wants things for himself, but he is never satisfied if he gets them. Verse 5 here. It's talks about a type of apostate. It says having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof from such turn away. This apostate with a form of godliness. I think he probably wants religion without God. He wants his sins to be forgiven and. But yet he doesn't want God to be Lord of his life. He picks and chooses certain things from the Bible to live by. And he rejects the only power that could help him live a godly life. This apostate with a form of godliness is a hypocrite. He may go to church, but his heart isn't there. And I think there's other. Maybe perhaps different types of apostates? Other apostates that. Don't want anything to do with church or anything to do with Christianity and. They are out. In the world far away from church. Think versus two to five here describe an apostate and I'm not planning to go over these too much, but. One thing I noticed looking at some of these is. Lots of selfishness, lovers of self and lovers of pleasures. More than lovers of God. Thinking Apostate thinks a lot about himself. Me thinks life is all about me and my pleasure and what I can get for myself and not about pleasing God.
