This morning we are back in 1 John. We know that 1 John is an attack on error, spiritual errors about who Jesus is and moral errors about the way Jesus expects us to live. We will see John expose these errors with a basic moral test. As we think about who is true and who is false, what about sin? What place does sin have in evaluating whether a person is teaching against Christ or whether he is following Christ? As John tackles that issue he frames up his argument in one of his most confrontational contrasts. So this morning let’s watch as John argues that there are only two kinds of people in all of mankind: First, the rebellious and second, the righteous. We will also see that John gives us the remedy: how to escape lawlessness and be found righteous.
