Parables are earthly stories with heavenly meanings. Here Jesus is giving us one of what God has done when He saves someone from eternity in hell. He has planted a vineyard in our hearts, in other words the Holy Ghost is now living inside of us. Not only that but God planted this vineyard of His exactly where He wanted it to be. God loves each of us and it is not by chance that we are saved but we are chosen by Him. When he planted this vineyard in us He established a hedge of protection for us, and just to keep out the trouble but to keep us safe inside. We just need to stop demanding our so-called rights and let God have His way. In the story Jesus tells us that some things were added to this vineyard, a tower and a wine fat. The hedge did not need to be torn down and expanded to make room, the one who built the vineyard knew these things would be added and thus had already allowed for them. And once all that was done he let it out for the laborers to take care. Our responsibility is to produce fruit to abound to our account. God has given us all we need and the power to do it for Him. But rent does come due. If we are not being productive we will get a talking to and possibly worse. We are God's vineyard.
