1. God begins his deliverance by first accusing the Israelites. God's deliverance begins with identifying their sin. This was not a physiological issue for them; it was a spiritual issue. God begins with the heart. 2. God pays attention and hears them. This is a direct response to the harsh words of verse 15. God's attention is directed at those who have a holy reverence for God; they are the ones God listens to. 3. In verse 17, God speaks a word of incredible promise: "They shall be mine." What a difference it makes when you live your life knowing that you are not your own, but that you were bought for a price. 4. God does one more thing for his people: "then once more you shall see the distinction between the rightous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him." (v. 18)
