However, once the Lord started to deal with him, first coming against him as a moth (Hosea 5:12), and then as a lion (5:14), he saw the error of his ways and came back to the Lord (Hosea 6:1-3).
The words he uses in Hosea 6:3 highlight 'The Route To Revival': "Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth."
This text emphasises:
1. RESPONSIBILITY ...
• to Ascertain where we stand with the Lord; • to Advance in the knowledge of God; • to Adhere to God's way; • to give Allegiance to Him.
2. RECOGNITION ...
The assurance of this text is that if we "follow on to know the Lord," essential and blessed knowledge will be revealed to us.
3. REVIVAL ...
Two main pictures of revival are painted in Hosea 6:3.
a) Revival Comes AFTER THE DARKNESS!
• The Sovereignty of Revival; • The Suddenness of Revival; • The Splendour of Revival; • The Strength of Revival
are clearly shown.
b) Revival Comes IN A DELUGE!
• The Refreshing through Revival; • The Repetition in Revival.
