The first covenant made by God with man was with Noah in the early chapters of Genesis immediately following the flood. It was both universal and everlasting. The covenant God later made with the man Abraham was redemptive in purpose and unconditional in the terms of the promises. Central in the promises made by God to Abraham were the promise of a land, a seed [descendents], and a blessing of salvation which specifically included provisions for Gentiles who became spiritual descendents of Abraham. Spiritual descendents would have the same quality of faith as Abraham, faith that believed and trusted in the Word of God. The three central promises were each later elaborated on by God with further revelation and confirmation indicating ultimate fulfillment of the Abrahamic covenant in the coming millennial kingdom.
