This is the kickoff day for the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends Church annual meeting; which is also called Northwest Yearly Meeting. All the churches get to participate in hearing one message, this year, delivered by our Associate Superintendent, Alan Weinacht.
The message is taken from Paul's letter to the Ephesians. The title and theme are taken from the vision God gave to our founder, George Fox. God spoke to his heart and told him that there is One who speaks to thy condition, even Jesus Christ.
Fox had a great grasp of the Scriptures and after seeking to know the author and talking with many professors of the faith who knew not the Lord of their faith, met Jesus by faith. As he yielded his life to Christ Jesus, God moved him to preach the Word to many peoples. Within 10 years, there were 50,000 people following Christ through this new Society of Friends of Jesus.
As most denominations (if not all), many followers moved away from the faith and are today enemies of the Faith. Yet, God moved again and raised up Joseph John Gurney, who called the church back to a true faith in Christ, built upon the foundation of the Scriptures. This is where we are as Peninsula Evangelical Friends Church.
This message reminds us that God is still calling, and Jesus is still saving all those whom the Father gives to Him. The gospel message is as alive today as it has ever been. The Scriptures are still living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword. |
