Today we are going to look at the Cause for Judgment, the Protection from Judgment, the Judgment itself, the Deliverance from the Judgment and the Response to the Judgment. Then we will close our time with two important truths for today. 1) The Cause for Judgment – 6:5-7, 11-13 2) The Protection from Judgment – 6:8-10; 6:14-7:16 3) The Execution of Judgment – 7:17-24 4) The Deliverance from Judgment – 8:1-19 5) The Response to Judgment – 8:20 I close with two truths for us today in light of the Flood.
2 Truths: The reality of God's Judgment and the Rescue from God's Judgment First… 1) The Reality of God's Judgment
The account of the flood reminds us that the world really is sinful and we really are sinners, and God is grieved over sin. Our hearts do not love Him fully; we do not live according to His commandments. Apart from Christ we are ripe for God's judgment. 2) The Rescue from God's Judgment
The rescue from God's judgment is Jesus Christ!
Without Jesus, you will perish under the waves of God's judgment. The Bible speaks of a place called Hell where all those who die without Jesus spend eternity in everlasting torment. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. He alone can rescue sinners from the punishment we all deserve!
On the cross, the sinless Son of God, willingly died in the place of sinners. God's wrath was poured out on Christ on the cross so instead of those who believe. When Jesus died, the judgment of God was satisfied toward all who will believe. We know that to be true because three days later, God raised Jesus from the dead and exalted Him to the Father's right hand.
