Living for God in Ungodly Times - Message 11 - Demonic Deterrence. Daniel 10 finds us in the third year of the reign of Cyrus. At this time, Daniel has been praying and fasting shortly after the time of Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. In Daniel's vision, he sees the Son of Man and then a mighty angel comes to him to deliver a message. This angel reflects the great glory of God and explains how he had been dispatched with his message 21 days before arriving. He had been opposed by a fallen angel who fought him to prevent him from delivering the Word from God to Daniel. The battle between these two angelic beings was so intense that Michael the Arch Angel had to be called to assist so that this demon known as the “Prince of Persia” could be overcome. A spiritual battle, hidden from the eyes of the physical world, was raging for almost a month as Daniel continued to pray and fast, seeking God for solace and strength. The ultimate battle between the Kingdom of God and the kingdoms of this world is being fought in the spiritual realm. While we cannot see this battle, we know it is very much real, and that it very much influences the circumstances around us. We do not seek to understand this realm as some form of mystical religion, but we understand that demons and the devil are real, and that God is going to conquer them, having already won the victory over them at the Cross.
