For years Bible beleivers identified the Roman Catholic Church with the Great Whore in Rev. 17. Now modern American evangelical thought sees the Roman Catholic as a fellow brother in Christ, the Pope as a great Christian leader (who is raptured in the Left Behind series), and the Roman Catholic church as a group we ought to ecumenically dialog with and show unity towards.
