The letter informed them that God set them into captivity because they broke covenant and their sentence was 70 years, a lifetime. The emphasis of this message is that those who preach the truth are unpopular for two reasons. Professors have a itching ears and want a flesh-satisfying message. Second, many popular preachers want ego-elevating praise and adulation. What is God's word to us today? Will we receive it or persecute the messenger?
