We've been going through the Book of Exodus and in the early chapters of the Book of Exodus we come across two key characters, Moses and Pharaoh.
Moses had a Contrite heart. Moses, though he was not perfect…. Moses yielded to God.
But then there's Pharaoh…Pharaoh you might say had a concrete heart.
Unfortunately Pharaoh resisted God's Word and resisted God's signs and Pharaoh developed a heart as hard as concrete.
God humbled Moses throughout his life and Moses responded to the Lord. Did you know that the Bible indicates that Moses was the Meekest Man in the whole earth?
Now when you look at the life of Pharaoh in the Book of Exodus you see a life in opposite direction to Moses.
Pharaoh had a heart that was hardened towards God.
Moses had a Contrite Heart whilst Pharaoh had a Concrete Heart.
Pharaoh hardened his heart and then God hardened Pharaoh's heart.
The hardened heart that grew harder and harder was part of the punishment that Pharaoh deserved for the rejection of God and His Word.
God Hardened the Hearts of the Egyptians that pursued the Israelite's into the Red Sea because they too had refused to respond to the Lord.
When a nation rejects God's revelation then that Nation becomes hard hearted.
