Making his way closer to Jerusalem, and passing through Samaria, Jesus encounters ten lepers. These lepers know their need of healing and cry to Jesus for deliverance from this most shameful disease. As a powerful act of mercy, Jesus promises them healing as he sends them to testify of such to the priests. They go and are healed. However, only one (and a Samaritan at that!) returns to worship and give thanks to Christ with a reverence elsewhere reserved for God himself. In this, he shows us that worship and thanksgiving are inseparably linked and are the fruit of a living faith. As those who are healed from the disease of sin and death, let us return to our Savior with gratitude and worship!
