Today, we will enter into a conversation between Jesus and a religious teacher named Nicodemas. This man had been intrigued by the works of Jesus throughout Jerusalem. He knew God had to be with Him in order to perform such miracles, but he did not understand the message of Jesus. Nicodemas, as a religious elite, may have thought that he had his ticket punched for heaven, yet Jesus told him that he would not even see the kingdom of heaven much less enter it unless he was born again. This term has been thrown around so much in our culture. If you ask many people if they are born again, the answers may range from 1) I was born into a Christian family 2) I prayed a prayer one time at church 3) I am a member of the church 4) I have been baptized. None of these answers constitutes what Jesus said would take to enter the kingdom of heaven. So what did Jesus mean when he told Nicodemas that he needed to be born again? Let’s read this famous passage, John 3:1-21 together.
