In these concluding verses of chapter 3, Paul exhorts us to not boast in human leaders and give a profound theological reason why. Those who trust in Christ crucified have everything God has promises and provided in Christ. This means that boasting in a certain preacher is absurd. The promises of God for believers do not depend on who preached the gospel to us. This sums up the issue Paul has addressed since 1 Corinthians 1:10-13. In this sermon, we warn against false claims of many teachers to have some special secret that will give us special status. This boasting is excluded. All who are in Christ have all things which God has provided to His own people. God's promises in Christ are not reserved for certain people who follow teachers with hyper-piety or special revelations. Cults and false teachers destroy many people by their false boasting. True boasting is only in God and His gracious salvation. We also defend the doctrine of the trinity and the deity of Christ. All who belong to Christ have "all things" promised to God's people.
