Dr Venema discusses a passage from Daniel Chapter 2 where King Nebuchadnezzar has a dream that troubles him. He calls on the wisest men in the kingdom to interpret the dream, but none of them are able to do so.
Daniel, a man of God, is then brought before the king. Through prayer, Daniel is able to discern the meaning of the dream. The king's dream is about a giant statue made of different materials, which represents different kingdoms. The kingdoms are eventually destroyed by a stone cut out of a mountain, which represents the everlasting Kingdom of God.
The pastor applies this story to the present day, arguing that many people place their hope in worldly kingdoms that are ultimately destined to fail. The only true hope is in the Kingdom of God, which will triumph over all others.
