The book of Hebrews is all about how Christ is "better than" everything that came under the Old Covenant of Moses. He builds a better House than Moses, He is a better High Priest than Aaron, He comes with a better covenant than Moses, and He offers a better sacrifice than all the animals slain before!
The writer is arguing against those Jewish believers thinking of going back to the temple worship. Perhaps they were persecuted for following the Savior, or longed for their family and friends that had left them, or missed the grandeur of the sacrificial system.
But Christ Himself has purged our sins by Himself! He has joined His deity to our humanity, so that He might have a body to substitute in our place and defeat death for us. He has put away our sin by the sacrifice of Himself. He has perfected forever all who trust in His death at Calvary.
Hebrew informs us that, according to the will of God, Christ has taken away all the animal sacrifices. Anybody who wishes to return to what Christ has taken away and what God the Father has no pleasure in, is on very dangerous ground!
Under the Old Covenant, sin was not taken away. Under the New Covenant executed in Christ's blood, sin is taken away!
Under the Old Covenant, there was no promise not to remember our sin against us. Under the New Covenant, God promised not to remember our sin!
The reason was, because the Old Covenant only had animal sacrifices that could never take away our sin. But the New Covenant has Christ's offering that takes away our sin!
God doesn't remember our sin against us, because it has been purged by Christ's atoning blood.
If you have to repeat your offering, it's not working!
