After the Fall, it was promised that the Holy Seed would come and crush the head of the serpent: delivering the death blow to sin and death. But since then, the devil has sought to destroy the Seed and cut the royal bloodline. It was promised through Abraham, Jacob, and even David that from their lines, a Child would be born unto us in Bethlehem; His days are from eternity and He will be our peace. Not only that, He will be King and sit upon the throne of David forever because He never dies. Boaz and Ruth along will Judah the betrayer, Rahab the harlot, Bathsheba the adulterer, David the murderer, Ahaz the child killer, Hezekiah the righteous, Josiah the one to discover the Word, and many others are in the line of Jesus Christ. Nothing stopped Him from coming. And He is a part of this bloodline to demonstrate His humility, His legitimacy, His right to reign, and His desire to save people just like the sinners in that line. So the book of Ruth ends with us recognizing kinsman redemption isn't enough, we need a greater redemption. We need a Redeemer today, tomorrow, and forever. And He is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. |
