In John 12, we see Christ in His final week of teaching before Calvary. He was hated by the Jewish authorities who believed God's purposes began and finished with them, yet they failed to recognise the Messiah.
Verse 20 records that 'certain Greeks' made the journey down to Jerusalem desiring to see the Lord Jesus. They represent the coming harvest of Gentile souls from all nations and tongues. To save His people, however, Christ must suffer and die, and we see this pictured here as a kernel of wheat which once buried, leaves the husk behind and brings forth great fruit.
We must also leave behind the world and sin. Every believer has a duty to die to self and live for Christ. This message concludes with an exhortation to follow the Saviour and serve Him with an eye to that great harvest of souls.
