We might be able to stop telling lies, we might be able to stop stealing if that's what we did before Christ, we might be able to control our tongues some of the time but not always and unfortunately, we will never come to a place in this life where we will no longer grieve the Holy Spirit. So is Paul pushing us to seek something we cannot attain? No.
