God gives everyone life and expects each of us to grow—the process is different for each indiuvial. Life's lessons are not to create a stagnate environment but are intended to be the tools to progressively help the individual to mature in the Lord. Look back in your life and ask yourself if you are different today than what you were 10-20-30 years ago (or even one year ago). Are you growing spiritually? (Romans 5:3-5)
The tribulations and sufferings experienced in this life are supposed to work your patience. That patience gives you the experience which ultimately leads to further hope. (Psalm 37:7; Psalm 40:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:11-15)
Patient—it does mean not hasty, over eager or impetuous, but also not easily provoked; calm under the sufferance of injuries or offenses; not revengeful-1 Peter 2:19-22
