Today, I would like for us to discuss in this Rags to Riches series, the topic of “I am Accepted.” There are many today who like to throw the word “accept” around. This word has been cheapened throughout the years by those who are in the vein of easy believism. Often, you will hear someone ask, “Have you accepted Christ?” Now, there is a point in which a person must understand the gospel and accept the truth, but often, this is used in a way to ask someone to accept Christ today and add Him to your life. I have been around various evangelistic efforts where men have forsaken the gravity of being born again. The idea of repentance was overlooked. However, the Bible teaches us that we must understand our complete unworthiness, be convicted of our sin, broken hearted over the price Christ paid, and in faith turn to Christ. Colossians says, “Christ is our life.” He is not something to add to our life. He becomes our life and He center of it. The main question today is not, “Have you accepted Christ?,” but “Has God accepted you?” Galatians 4:9 says, “But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?” |
