Today, we are living in a time where morality is decaying, sin is laughed at, conflicts are glossed over, hearts are becoming colder, all the while religions are abounding to appease the screams of man’s conscience. Some are denying, ignoring, and playing God. There are messages of hope and deliverance that are sent out weekly. The question is whether or not the message is true or not. The Bible emphatically tells us that there is One True God. This alleviates of burden of explaining away other religions that believe there is more than one God. When we narrow things down to the monotheistic faiths of the Jews, Muslims, and Christians, we can further narrow down the true Gospel to what the different faiths believe about Jesus. The Jews and Muslims both disregard Jesus as the eternal Son of God, therefore both groups would be considered false teachers.
This sets Christianity apart from all the religions in the world. A Christian believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God in the flesh who died on the cross to set them free from the penalty, power, and presence of sin. The Christ paid the ultimate sacrifice on the cross once and for all. This is why the greatest symbol of the Christian faith is the cross. It is a symbol of punishment, suffering, and death. The cross is not a pretty picture, but it is the absolute truth about God’s view of holiness, sin, atonement, justice, forgiveness, love, grace, and mercy. Through Jesus Christ, a person can be delivered from the wrath of God and experience peace through the blood of His cross. This is the gospel message. |
