When Moses and Aaron went in and asked Pharaoh to allow Israel to go and sacrifice to the Lord God of Israel in the wilderness, Pharaoh haughty reply was, "Who is the Lord "? A fair question indeed. The Egyptians were an idolatrous nation and were, therefore, ignorant of the nature and name of the True God. This was to be expected. However, it is evident by listening to sermons and reading articles by, not a few, evangelical ministers, there is a woeful ignorance of what the God of the Bible is like. This is not because the Bible does not inform us of what God is like and who, and what He is, but because many Evangelicals don't like what the Bible has to say about God. To be brief, they don't like the idea of an all powerful and sovereign God, especially, when it has to do with salvation. He is often portrayed as a helpless Being, pleading with sinners to allow Him to save them. As has been well remarked, "IF God is not God of all, He is not God at all" How often is the Lord Jesus Christ referred to without the prefix, LORD, Truly, the God of Neo-evangelicals is not the God revealed in Scripture, |
