What is the ultimate effect of the gospel of grace? That is, what is the effect after the conversion of the lost soul from being an enemy of God and a child of darkness to a loving and loyal disciple? What obligations come with living that new life? What benefits are there for the believer? To what extent has the relationship with God been changed? Such are the questions the Apostle Paul answers in these few verses. The glorious truth is, that when we are converted and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we pass from being a condemned rebel to being an adopted child of the King. When we are converted and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we pass from being slaves and in bondage to being the freest of all mankind. We are emancipated. And when we are converted and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we pass from being outcasts to being joint-hers with the Savior. We pass from blindness, nakedness, and poverty, to seeing and having all things. And if all of this is true through the means of placing our trust on and in the Savior, how could we let ourselves be convinced that there is something we need which we do not have, and that it must be acquired by means of our own works and not graciously given to us by Him? – Pastor Schlegel
